Ngari hill Fuss, our first blog post
Today we have the pleasure to announce the start of our weblog entitled ‘Ngari Hill Fuss’. It is a blog that focusses on activities, occurrences, stories and events that happen around our lodge – Ngari Hill EcoLodge- or within its surroundings in Samburu County in Kenya. The blog, largely written and moderated by Ngari Hill may have inputs from our guests on issues related to their stay, their experiences, observations, opinions and their well-being. Clearly, through the blog we would like to present ourselves in an informal and positive way to the outside world through evolving stories, images and video clips. What now first follows ahead in the blog entries is a historical perspective of Ngari Hill.
We opened our doors for the first time in July 2012 when construction of one of our first guest cottages had been completed. We had opted for a small / medium size lodge with a maximum of twelve rooms in different categories and budgets. Construction of these additional rooms took a number of years. Since the start of the lodge operations we were encouraged by the feedback of our guests who came to visit us for different kind of reasons, tourism, work, research, cultural exchange. One of these visitors in the early years was Marcy Mendelson who researched a traditional important event in Samburu Culture called Lmuget- a graduation phase and events for Samburu Morans. Marcy stayed with us for about a week. Her article for the National Geographic can be viewed here.
